Fan falls on patient admitted to emergency ward at GTB hosp

A ceiling fan fell on 42-year-old critically ill patient Md Akbar at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital's emergency ward while he was undergoing treatment.

Md Akbar was suffering from hypertension, meningoencephalitis, and aspiration pneumonia; he died hours after the incident due to his illness.

A nursing officer also sustained injuries when the fan fell during treatment in emergency ward 27.

The hospital's statement said the fan shaft fractured, causing the fall, and that no major injury was sustained by anyone.

The emergency ward’s renovation remains pending, and hospital authorities will investigate the incident.
