Uttarakhand sees surge in pilgrims beyond Char Dham as Jageshwar, Triyuginarayan witness sharp rise

Uttarakhand saw temple footfall surge beyond Char Dham in Jan-Jun 2026, with Jageshwar Dham in Almora recording 1.74 lakh visitors (up from 67,875), Triyuginarayan in Rudraprayag 3.40 lakh (up from 1.36 lakh), Purnagiri Dham in Champawat 20.92 lakh (up from 14.35 lakh), and Dhari Devi near Srinagar 5.43 lakh (up from 2.83 lakh).

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the rise reflects government efforts to develop Uttarakhand's spiritual tourism, including improved connectivity and pilgrim amenities, under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission.

Char Dham Yatra also saw record participation: 45.84 lakh devotees visited the four Himalayan shrines in 105 days, with Yamunotri hitting its highest-ever turnout (6.55 lakh) and Badrinath receiving 15.52 lakh in first 100 days.

The state aims to establish Uttarakhand as a global spiritual capital in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
