No bar on voter registration after draft roll publication, EC clarifies

Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule claimed voters cannot register for 20 years after draft roll publication on August 17.

Election Commission clarified voter registration is ongoing; citizens can register anytime, including after the draft roll.

Bawankule said unregistered names would lose government benefits like free ration and school admission.

EC confirmed eligible voters can apply using Form 6 from August 17 to September 16, and final roll publishes October 19.

After final roll, continuous updation allows registration until last nomination date for any election.
