FIR filed over ‘AI-doctored’ video of Delhi cop

Maharashtra Cyber police filed a case over a deepfake video of Delhi Police DCP Sumit Jha claiming he was resigning, shared by Congress leader Bhai Jagtap and CJP supporters.

The video was doctored using AI, and the original showed Jha discussing Pakistani social media handles creating instability during protests.

The FIR was filed based on a complaint by BJP social media team member Nikhil Bhambre, under sections 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 66D of the IT Act.

The Press Information Bureau confirmed the video was AI-generated, and the case was registered for spreading confusion without verification.
