Over 45% of Delhi schools deficient in child safety

An inspection of 1,677 Delhi schools over two weeks found 774 schools failed to follow student safety and child protection rules, per the LG’s office.

Key deficiencies included non-constitution of child welfare committees and absence of parent representatives on these committees.

Private schools accounted for a disproportionately high share: 463 of 812 inspected private schools had deficiencies.

Among 790 government schools, 270 were deficient; 41 of 75 government-aided schools were deficient.

The drive, covering NCPCR, DCPCR, and Pocso Act compliance, began July 13 and will continue until all 5,633 Delhi schools are inspected.
