PSPCL SDO Gurvinder Singh was allegedly assaulted by 20-25 residents at the 66-KV Dugri grid substation after rain-triggered faults caused prolonged power outages.
The assault occurred during a PSPCL employees' strike, leaving the substation with only the SDO and one lineman on duty.
Residents confronted officials over delayed power restoration; the group allegedly abused the SDO, threw away his dinner, and physically assaulted him.
Chief engineer Jagdev Singh Hans confirmed the department sought police action; a written complaint was filed at Dugri police station.
