The body of teenage girl Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found in the trunk of singer D4vd's Tesla, decomposed to the point of being 'unrecognizable'.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, faces charges including murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains.
Prosecutors allege Burke killed Hernandez after she threatened to reveal their illegal sexual relationship, which began when she was 13.
Los Angeles Police Detective Joshua Byers testified about the 'very distinctive smell' of the corpse and the presence of maggots and insect activity on the remains.
Burke could face life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted; the preliminary hearing is expected to last three to five days.
