12 years after Palghar’s birth, man with severe injuries carried over 1 km in a makeshift doli as road remains incomplete

In Dongripada village in Dahanu taluka, Palghar, a man named Karan Desak fell from a tree and was critically injured, requiring villagers to carry him over 1 km in a makeshift doli because the ambulance couldn't reach due to an incomplete culvert.

The construction of a culvert on the approach road to Dongripada has been incomplete for three years, leaving the hamlet inaccessible to emergency vehicles.

Villagers carried Desak to the main road, hailed a tempo, and took him to Dahanu Cottage Hospital; he was later referred to Vedanta Hospital and is stable.

Similar incidents have repeatedly occurred in Palghar's tribal regions including Vikramgad, Wada, Jawhar, and Mokhada, where patients are often transported on makeshift stretchers due to lack of roads and healthcare facilities.

Twelve years after Palghar was carved out as a district with promises of being a 'modern district' and 'model town', remote tribal hamlets still lack basic infrastructure like motorable roads.
