Mangaluru courts deliver 20 year sentences in two sexual assault cases

Two courts in Mangaluru sentenced five men to 20 years each in two separate sexual assault cases.

Prajwal, Arun Amin, Aditya Salian, and Abdul Riyaz were convicted for gang rape in November 2018 under the SC/ST Act.

The gang rape occurred at a beach near Thota Bengre; the accused also threatened the victims and took the woman's phone.

The court ordered ₹60,000 compensation to the survivor and a combined fine of ₹74,000.

A fifth man received 20 years for repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor in a separate case.
