Six booked for targeting NRI’s land with forged documents, impersonation in Zirakpur

Six individuals were booked for targeting a 15-bigha agricultural land belonging to Canada-based NRI Karnail Singh, 91, in Kishanpura village, Zirakpur, using forged documents and impersonation.
The accused allegedly used a forged agreement to sell dated April 23, 2025, to file a civil suit in a Dera Bassi court, obtaining a stay order on November 6, 2025, that restrained sale or transfer of the land.
Police found that the stamp paper for the agreement was purchased a day after the date on the document, and passport records showed Karnail Singh was in Canada at the time of the purported agreement.
An impersonator posing as Karnail Singh used a fake Aadhaar card with a Ludhiana address to execute the forged agreement.
The accused include Sarbjit Singh, Shinderpal Singh alias Kaka, Suraj Prakash, Suleman, Vikram Sharma, and Ravinder Singh; investigation continues into the roles of a property broker, village sarpanch, and stamp vendor.
