Will wipe off few players, benefit few others: Gopichand on badminton's new scoring system

Badminton's new 15x3 scoring system will replace the current 21x3 format next year, according to BWF.

India coach Pullela Gopichand said the system will 'wipe off a few players' and benefit others, recalling his own struggle when scoring changed from 15 to 7 points in 2001.

Gopichand said the shorter format will increase the importance of speed, power, and mental strength, especially in closing stages.

Doubles players will feel the biggest impact as serve, serve-return, and attack become more critical.
