Indian-origin mayor of US city asks ICE to 'go home', says he will always support the immigrant community

Swarnjit Singh, Indian-origin mayor of Norwich, Connecticut, issued a statement saying ICE is not welcome in the city.

Singh stated that the Norwich Police Department follows the CT Trust Act and does not assist or facilitate ICE enforcement.

Singh affirmed support for immigrants, echoing Governor Lamont's message: 'ICE, go home. You are not welcomed here.'

Singh received threats targeting him and his family, which police defined as a hate crime.
