Kevin Smith paid £5 after dropping off his son and another £5 when collecting him

Kevin Smith paid £5 for each of two drop-off visits at East Midlands Airport, but received two £100 fines.

The fines were issued because Smith completed payment on the APCOA parking app while his car was still in the drop-off zone, violating the app's rule.

The drop-off zone uses ANPR cameras, and drivers must pay online or by phone before midnight the next day.

APCOA cancelled one fine after appeal, but Smith is contesting the second fine and may take further action.
