Three family members owning Nakshatra Safe House in Surat, Gujarat, were arrested for stealing gold worth ₹ 2.67 crore from customers' lockers.
The accused—Mahesh Deora, his sons Harsh and Harikrishna, and accomplice Manilal—used duplicate keys made by a local keymaker to loot 207 tolas of gold from six lockers over a year.
Harsh Deora incurred losses of around ₹ 3 crore in the stock market, motivating the conspiracy to recover money.
The theft was discovered after a customer, Ramesh Vaghani, reported 63 tolas of gold missing; police found five other victims.
₹ 15 lakh in cash was recovered; the stolen gold was allegedly sold to cover stock market losses.
