Inspired by crime series, Delhi man kills wife, hides weapon but lands in police net

Kamal Singh, 53, allegedly murdered his wife Komal Singh in their Gagan Vihar residence in Delhi's Shahdara on July 30, 2026, over a property dispute.

Police arrested Singh near Mathura Railway Station after tracking him via technical surveillance; he had withdrawn about ₹7 lakh and was found with ₹12.75 lakh in cash.

Singh was influenced by the crime series 'The Staircase' and hid the suspected murder weapon, a blood-stained pair of scissors, in a bag, but CCTV footage and forensic analysis led to his arrest.
