School open after summer vacations in Kashmir; MeT predicts rains from July 28

Schools across Kashmir opened on July 28, 2026 after a 21-day summer vacation that was extended until July 26 due to weather.

The meteorological (MeT) centre predicted moderate to heavy rains across Jammu and Kashmir from July 28 to 31.

Torrential rain may generate flashfloods, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable places during July 28–31.

In Jammu division, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Udhampur and adjoining areas on July 30.
