‘The Rookie’ Season 9 begins filming

'The Rookie' Season 9 began filming last week, with Nathan Fillion joining production on Monday after the San Diego Comic-Con panel.

Creator Alexi Hawley described the season as supersized, with a two-part storyline beginning with the kidnapping cliffhanger from the Season 8 finale.

The season is expected to premiere in January, following the pattern of previous seasons.

The spin-off 'The Rookie: North' will begin production in August.
