Karnataka: Heavy downpour eases water distress, train services affected, three killed

Heavy rainfall in Karnataka caused three deaths in a rain-triggered landslide in Shivamogga district, with victims identified as Mallikarjun, Nagaveni, and their son Santosh.

Train services connecting Bengaluru with Mangaluru, Karwar, Kozhikode, Murudeshwar, and Vijayapura were suspended due to a landslide between Edakumari and Shribagilu railway stations in Hassan district's Sakleshpur taluk.

Inflows into the Kabini reservoir at Beechanahalli in Mysuru district rose to about 30,000 cusecs, easing water scarcity concerns in Karnataka.

Agumbe in Shivamogga district recorded 197 mm of rainfall in 24 hours, with other areas like Gonikoppal, Brahmavara, Balehonnur, and Sirsi also receiving heavy rain.
