BMC Health Committee Chairman Harish Bhandirge visited KEM Hospital in disguise at midnight, alleging lapses in emergency care.

Bhandirge ordered a high-level inquiry after a complaint that a patient waited nearly nine-and-a-half hours for admission.

KEM Hospital Dean Dr Harish Pathak refuted the allegations, stating the patient underwent diagnostic tests and specialist consultations.

Pathak noted Bhandirge was examined promptly by a junior doctor, but emergency care followed triage protocols based on severity.

A video showed a heated exchange; hospital staff claimed Bhandirge's visit disrupted casualty services.
