Fans are flying overseas to watch Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in IMAX 1570 format.

Only 41 cinemas worldwide can project IMAX 1570 film, with IMAX Melbourne being the only one in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Odyssey is the first feature film shot entirely using IMAX 1570 cameras.

Nolan worked with IMAX engineers to develop equipment reducing camera noise for dialogue recording.

The film's release has revived interest in traditional film projection, increasing IMAX 1570-capable cinemas from 30 to 41.
