Florida community boasts largest man-made lagoon

The Mirada community in San Antonio, Florida, features the 15-acre Crystal Lagoon, the largest man-made lagoon in the United States, with a swim-up bar, kayaks, paddleboards, and a floating obstacle course.

Metro Development Group, the developer, says the lagoon is a major driver of home sales, with house prices ranging from $250,000 for townhouses to $385,000 for single-family homes.

Mirada currently has 2,873 households at about 75% capacity, with plans to expand to 5,000 homes.

The previous record holder was the Beachwalk Club in St. Johns, Florida (14 acres), and Metro's earlier Epperson community (7.5 acres) is now third.
