Karnataka government launched a robotic surgery system at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics (SGITO) in Bengaluru.
SGITO is the first government hospital in Karnataka to introduce robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery.
The Rs 3-crore system was inaugurated by medical education minister Sharan Prakash Patil.
The technology improves precision in knee and hip replacement surgeries by enabling accurate implant positioning, reducing surgical trauma and blood loss, and speeding recovery.
The government plans to install robotic surgery systems in all major state hospitals, with proposals submitted to the chief minister.
