PNG applicants allege long delays, poor communication from MGL

Thousands of households, housing societies, and restaurants in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region face long delays for piped natural gas (PNG) connections from Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL).
MGL has received 93,500 PNG applications since March 2026, but applicants report poor communication, unanswered complaints, and shifting timelines.
Applicants like Vinod Gidwani of Sea Line Cooperative Housing Society applied before the LPG crisis but still await service despite repeated follow-ups.
Hrithik Jain from Astral Mansion was told a simple flat connection would take 90 days, with no response to calls, emails, or social media complaints.
Association of Hotels and Restaurants president Vijay Shetty said around 2,000 member establishments applied for PNG connections but face similar delays.
