Airlines report 352 major flight defects till June, Akasa and Air India top list

  1. Between January and June 2026, Indian airlines reported 352 significant technical defects, with 334 in domestic flights.

  3. The total significant defects from 2023 to June 2026 was 2,420, with yearly counts rising from 487 in 2023 to 889 in 2025.

  4. The DGCA issued 382 show cause notices to airlines for safety violations from January 2024 to June 2026.
