Punjab extends deadline to upload fee details after 40% schools fail to comply

  1. Nearly 40% of schools in Punjab failed to disclose fee structure by the July 25 deadline under the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026.

  2. The Punjab government extended the deadline to July 31 for schools to upload fee details for the past four academic sessions starting from 2023-24.

  3. The ordinance, approved on June 23, 2026, caps annual fee hikes by unaided schools at 5%.

  4. Muktsar and Mansa recorded the highest compliance at 94%, while Gurdaspur and Ludhiana had the lowest at 49% and 51% respectively.

  5. District-level regulatory bodies, headed by deputy commissioners, will scrutinize submissions and act on irregularities.
