Trump Backs Russia Sanctions Bill; India Could Face Up To 100% Tariffs Over Russian Oil

President Donald Trump supports a bipartisan Russia sanctions bill targeting major purchasers of Russian oil, including India and China.

The bill, originally proposed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, now allows tariffs of up to 100% on the top five buyers of Russian energy.

The legislation includes full blocking sanctions on Russia's economy, energy, financial sectors, defense industry, oligarchs, and President Vladimir Putin.

The revised version gives the US President flexibility to impose tariffs and waive sanctions if in the national interest.

India could face fresh trade pressure as it has defended purchasing discounted Russian crude for national energy security.
