SC to hear Jagannath temple plea against animated film after Rath Yatra ends

The Supreme Court deferred release of animated film 'Mahaprabhu Jagannath' until after Rath Yatra to balance public sensitivities and free expression.

Justice BV Nagarathna observed the court consciously postponed release due to law and order concerns.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration filed an application challenging the film's release, to be heard after Rath Yatra ends.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the temple administration had approached CBFC on July 25 seeking revocation of certification.
