Karnataka govt officer attacked for excluding Bangladesh, Pak nationals in SIR list: BJP

Superintendent rank officer Fakirappa was assaulted in Pulakeshi Nagar, Karnataka by about eight people for refusing to include Bangladeshis and Pakistanis in the electoral roll SIR list.

Fakirappa suffered injuries to his teeth and lips and was hospitalized.

Three persons have been arrested; others remain at large.

BJP leader S Harish demanded the resignation of Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge over the incident.

Harish alleged the assailants are linked to the 2020 DJ Halli violence.
