28-year-old man hacks mother to death in Bahraich; arrested

Chhailu Verma, 28, allegedly hacked his mother Kanya Devi, 55, to death with an axe at their home in Phulera village, Bahraich.

The attack occurred around 7:30 am after Kanya Devi prepared tea and stepped into the courtyard; Chhailu Verma allegedly picked up an axe and attacked her.

The motive may have involved an argument, but it is under investigation; police arrested Chhailu Verma within hours of the incident.

The victim’s husband Bhagwan Deen Verma lodged a written complaint, leading to the arrest and recovery of the murder weapon.

Visheshwarganj police, including CO Harshita Tiwari and SHO Sandeep Dwivedi, responded and sent the body for post-mortem.
