Lucas Herbert breaks course record in LIV United Kingdom first round

Lucas Herbert shot an 11-under-par 61 to lead LIV Golf United Kingdom by three shots after the first round in Rocester, England.

Herbert broke the JCB Golf and Country Club course record by one shot, finishing with nine birdies, one eagle, and no bogeys.

Bryson DeChambeau stands second after a 64, which included a roller-coaster round with an eagle and four straight birdies on the back nine.

Herbert's 61 comes a week after he tied the record for lowest round in a major with a 62 at The Open Championship.

Herbert and DeChambeau will be paired in the final group on Friday, a week after a potential pairing at The Open was derailed by DeChambeau's two-stroke penalty.
