From confrontation to consensus: Shivakumar bets on cooperation to secure central funds

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar shifted from confrontation to cooperation with the Narendra Modi-led Union government to secure central funds.

Shivakumar sought central support for projects worth over Rs 30,000 crore, including Bengaluru tunnel road, Metro Phase 3 and 3A, and Mekedatu balancing reservoir.

Karnataka agreed to comply with Centre's terms for jointly funded schemes if financial assistance is released.

Shivakumar's economic adviser LK Atheeq said Karnataka is seeking only what it is legitimately entitled to, with some projects fully funded by the Centre.
