SC issues notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla against approval of Sena (UBT) MPs' merger with Shinde faction
Supreme Court issued notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla over approval of six Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs' merger with Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
The plea was filed by Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) MP Arvind Ganpat Sawant challenging the Speaker's decision.
The six MPs who merged are Sanjay Deshmukh, Sanjay Jadhav, Sanjay Dina Patil, Nagesh Patil-Ashtikar, Omprakash Rajenimbalkar, and Bhausaheb Wakchaure.
The merger reduced Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena strength in Lok Sabha to three MPs, while Shinde's tally rose to 13 MPs.
Eknath Shinde said the six MPs joined to secure development for their constituencies, not for personal gains.
