China is concerned that Anthropic's Claude Mythos AI model could be used as an offensive cyberweapon, per Bloomberg.

Chinese officials questioned the Trump administration's decision to deny China access to Mythos and Fable models.

Mythos can rapidly identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities, generate exploit code, and autonomously carry out attacks, reducing patch time for defenders.

The Trump administration blocked Anthropic from providing Mythos and Fable to foreign nationals on June 12, but lifted the directive for Fable on June 30.

China is considering potential responses, including sanctions or bans on American AI companies, should the US take further actions in tech and AI.
