Five Tourists Swept Away In Flash Flood At Hanuman Waterfall In Thanes Shahapur

in5points
A flash flood at Hanuman Waterfall in Shahapur taluka, Thane district, swept away five tourists on Sunday after intense cloudburst-like rainfall caused a sudden rise in water levels.
Rescue teams saved Prasad Ramesh Ingle, Nitesh Lahu Patil, and Ajay Krishna Mirkute, but Akash Mahendra Deshmukh was found dead downstream, and Dinesh Mendalkar remained missing as of late Sunday.
Continuous rainfall, poor visibility, and strong water flow hampered search operations by Revenue Department, Shahapur Police, and local disaster response teams.
The India Meteorological Department had issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Thane and adjoining districts, warning of sudden water level rises in high-risk tourist spots.
