Chandigarh: Jolt for AAP as Ward 29 councillor joins Congress

AAP Ward 29 councillor Munawar joined Congress with his supporters and entire ward executive committee.

He was formally welcomed by Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee President HS Lucky.

Munawar is the fifth AAP councillor to defect to other parties since December 2025.

Congress now has nine councillors, becoming the second largest party in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

Munawar cited weak AAP leadership and difficulty securing development works as reasons for leaving.
