Chandigarh: Consider regularisation for MC staff within 8 weeks, HC to UT

Punjab and Haryana high court division bench gave eight weeks to Chandigarh administration and municipal corporation (MC) to consider claims of employees working over a decade for regularisation.

The order came on appeals from MC and Chandigarh administration against a single judge bench's August 2025 order for regularisation within six weeks.

UT argued that the court could not direct deemed regularisation if not regularised within six weeks, citing no group-B regularisation policy for engineers and Central government rules from 2022 requiring government approval.

The division bench held that regularisation claims must be considered based on work and conduct, and set aside the deemed regularisation direction.
