Human remains found in chest freezer at Alaska home during family clean-up, police probe underway

Human remains were found in a locked chest freezer at an Alaska home in Juneau during a family clean-up after a relative's death.

Police received a report on July 19, 2026, from a family member who discovered the remains in an outbuilding on Glacier Highway.

Preliminary identification suggests the remains are of an adult male family member, but formal ID awaits the State Medical Examiner's Office.

No missing person's report had been filed for the deceased with the Juneau Police Department.
