MLC slams blanket rain holidays for DK schools

JD(S) MLC SL Bhoje Gowda criticized the Dakshina Kannada district administration for declaring blanket school and college holidays based solely on weather department reports during the rainy season.

Gowda said the decisions are unscientific and questioned why holidays are declared even when there is no rain.

He urged the district administration to assess weather conditions at the taluk level and take region-specific decisions instead of district-wide blanket holidays.

Gowda advised that precautions should focus on nursery children, not college students, and blanket holidays create anxiety among students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

He warned that such holidays negatively impact the district's educational performance, which has consistently ranked first, and urged the deputy commissioner to act carefully.
