HIV screening, counselling camps planned in Visvesvaraya Technological University colleges
Visvesvaraya Technological University engineering colleges will host integrated health camps with HIV awareness, testing, and counselling under the Mobilisation for AIDS Suraksha programme.
Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society requested VTU to facilitate camps across its 220+ affiliated colleges with around 3 lakh students.
KSAPS estimates 1 lakh people in Karnataka live with HIV, with nearly 54,000 possibly undiagnosed.
The camps align with 95-95-99 targets: 95% know status, 95% on ART, 99% viral load controlled.
A QR code-based self-risk assessment tool will let students confidentially evaluate HIV risk and access prevention, testing, and treatment info.
