in5points
A portion of slab plaster collapsed and structural cracks appeared on columns of Dhoom Apartment in Kausa, Mumbra, on Saturday at around 3:51 PM.
The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) ordered immediate evacuation of the ground-plus-five-storey building, which is classified as 'C1' (extremely dangerous and fit for demolition).
The building has 42 flats, with 22 occupied by about 160-170 residents; no casualties or injuries were reported.
Civic officials, disaster management staff, and fire brigade with one emergency tender responded to the incident.
Residents received formal eviction notices, and the Mumbra Ward Committee will coordinate structural assessment and demolition with the TMC Construction Department.
