Panchkula DBA abstains from work over FIR against advocate

Panchkula district bar association abstained from judicial work on July 15, 2026, in protest of an FIR against advocate Maninder Singh Bitta.

The FIR was registered on July 10, 2026, by Sector 7 police after a Lieutenant Colonel from Chandimandir military station alleged assault, wrongful confinement, and forced signing of a compromise deed on July 9.

The DBA claimed the army officer misbehaved with and assaulted advocate Bitta during court proceedings, and that a false FIR was lodged while the advocate's complaint went unaddressed.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the court complex and awaiting final expert opinion on the medical report; no arrests have been made.
