Florida boy, 11, reads 100+ hours to shelter pets

Nehemiah Turner, an 11-year-old from Florida, completed over 100 volunteer hours in the Jacksonville Humane Society's Pawsitive Reading programme.

He read aloud to shelter dogs and cats to help anxious pets become calm and more adoptable.

Turner began volunteering in 2024 and is the first child in the programme's history to surpass 100 hours.

The Pawsitive Reading programme has children sit outside kennels and read in calm voices to comfort animals.

His dedication inspired animal lovers across the US, showing how a simple act of kindness helps homeless pets find forever homes.
