Sumit Kundu loses 1-4 to Jon McConnell after judges break deadlocked scorecards at CWG 2026

Indian boxer Sumit Kundu lost 1-4 to Jon McConnell of Northern Ireland in the men's 70kg round of 16 at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

Kundu won the first round on three of five judges' scorecards, aided by a one-point deduction against McConnell.

McConnell adjusted in the second and third rounds, winning the final round on four of five cards.

After three rounds, four judges had the bout tied at 28-28, while one judge favored Kundu.

The deadlocked scorecards were resolved via boxing's official tie-break system, resulting in McConnell's victory.
