Awaiting fulfilment of promises 26 years after sacrifice: Kargil martyr'sfamily

Indian Army soldier Avnish Yadav was martyred on September 4, 1999, during the Kargil conflict.

His mother Somaro Devi said promises such as installing a statue, naming a government hospital or primary school after him remain unfulfilled after 26 years.

Father Shivji Yadav, a retired CRPF officer, said Avnish neutralised 20 Pakistani soldiers before his death.

The Central government allotted a petrol pump to Avnish's widow, but other assurances to the family and village are pending.

Bairia SDM Shashi Mani Nath Mishra said he is looking into the matter and will take action after verifying details.
