Commercial Flights To Shift From Visakhapatnam To Bhogapuram Airport From 17 August As Centre Transfers VTZ Airport Code

Commercial flight operations at Visakhapatnam Airport will shift permanently to Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram from 17 August.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the greenfield airport on 1 August.
The IATA airport code VTZ, currently assigned to Visakhapatnam Airport, will be transferred to the new Bhogapuram airport.
The existing Visakhapatnam Airport civil enclave will remain open for non-scheduled commercial flights and military operations.
The shift is part of a 30-year closure of scheduled commercial services at Visakhapatnam Airport, aimed at accommodating passenger growth.
