Mumbai sessions court rejected anticipatory bail of former Rajya Sabha MP and Rizvi Estate director Akhtar Rizvi in a property fraud and forgery case.

Bandra Police alleged Rizvi forged 1978 documents related to a property owned by Hajani Kalu, who died in 1971.

Prosecution claimed Rizvi used an impersonator pretending to be Kalu to execute a fabricated conveyance deed.

Court held custodial interrogation necessary to identify the impersonator and rejected defence claims of signature misuse by an employee.

Court noted Rizvi is a reputed builder and educated, unlikely to sign blank documents blindly.
