Thane Hoarding Collapse: Police Booked Agency & Structural Engineer As TMC Revokes Permission & Orders

Police booked an advertising agency and a structural engineer after a cantilever hoarding collapsed in Thane's Vartak Nagar on July 6.

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) revoked the agency's permission and ordered an inquiry despite the hoarding having a valid structural stability certificate.

The hoarding was erected under TMC's intersection beautification scheme; the firm had submitted a fresh stability certificate on June 6.

No casualties were reported, but the TMC launched citywide hoarding inspections and removed two hoardings found dangerous.

Strict instructions were issued to ad licensees to check structural strength, dismantle sheets during monsoon, and ensure electrical safety.
