Pakistan minister warns of youth unrest over 'cockroach' remark

Pakistan interior minister Mohsin Naqvi warned that youth, called 'cockroaches', could 'overturn everything' if they unite, borrowing terminology from India's Cockroach Janta Party.

Naqvi admitted Pakistan's system has 'collapsed' and that the country's debt is rising every year, saying the government is failing to provide youth with what they want.

India's Cockroach Janta Party, led by Abhijeet Dipke, led student-led protests over examination irregularities and paper leaks, resulting in Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation and the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk held an indefinite hunger strike in support of the protests in India.
