Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Sioux Falls

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Sioux Falls, South Dakota until 9:30 PM CDT on July 25, 2026.

Wind gusts up to 70 mph were forecast, with some reports confirming winds over 80 mph in the Sioux Falls area.

Storm chasers reported wind gusts of 72 mph measured at Sioux Falls airport and widespread 60-70 mph winds.

Residents posted videos and reports of damage, including fence damage and downed branches, but no tornado was confirmed.

The storm line pushed east into southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa, with warnings for those areas.
