CWG javelin qualifiers: Chopra throws 79.61m, advances

Neeraj Chopra qualified for the men's javelin throw final with a best throw of 79.61m, finishing fifth in the Commonwealth Games qualification round.

Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan qualified for the final with a best throw of 78.63m, finishing seventh.

Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage of Sri Lanka topped the qualification with a throw of 82.84m.

No athlete crossed the automatic qualification mark of 84m; the top 12 competitors advanced to the final.

All three Indian athletes—Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav (78.37m), and Yashvir Singh (78.36m)—progressed to the medal round.
